Description

MGDDI06 Block DiagramThe MGDDI-06 ultra wide input series designates a full family of DC/DC power modules with a permanent ultra wide input voltage range of 12 to 160 volts. The family is designed for use in distributed power architecture where variable input voltage and transient are prevalent making them ideal particularly for railway and transportation systems, as well as avionics and military applications.

The MGDDI-06 series is compliant with railway 24VDC / 37VDC / 72VDC / 110VDC  voltage ranges or DO-160 / Mil-Std-704 voltage ranges without additional voltage limiter.

The series includes dual output voltage choices individually isolated of  2 x 5 volts, 2 x 12 volts, 2 x 15 volts and 2 x 24 volts. These can be easily configured in parallel, series, symmetrical or independent. The total power is 6W, the 2 outputs can be used with unbalance up to 5W on 1 channel and 1W on the other..

All the modules are designed with LC network filter to minimize reflected input current ripple. The modules include a soft-start, an input under-voltage lock-out, a permanent short circuit and overload protection and an output over-voltage limitation to ensure efficient module protections. The soft-start allows current limitation and eliminates inrush current during start-up. The short circuit protection completely protects the modules against short-circuits of any duration by a shut-down and restores to normal when the overload is removed.

The modules are potted with a bi-component thermal conductive compound to ensure optimum power dissipation under harsh environmental conditions.

Gaia's MGDDI-06 Series of Industrial DC-DC Converters are designed for higher operating temperatures of -40 to +95°C with input ranges required for typical railway, transportation and military & aerospace applications.


All Dual Outputs are Isolated and can be referenced as positive or negative and connected in series or parallel. Maximum Output power from any one rail may not exceed 6.8W with Total Power not to exceed 8W.
